For this project, it was a group project to have the Game Design and Game Developer students working collaboratively on a quick game jam build made by our lecturers, and from this start idea we then had to build on this and create our own idea and levels for it.

The Game Designers came together and created a base story idea, setting and the overall layout for the levels to flow from one to another and keep within the same style of design throughout.

On this project, I was one of the level designers and worked with the other Game Designers and Developers to add in gameplay mechanics, new controls and any assets being used throughout.

At the beginning, I quickly drew up a mockup 2d drawing of how I saw the level going with different sections and puzzles for the player to navigate through.

Though the end result changed from this first initial drawing, it is still helped me with how I envisioned the level playing out.

Working with another game designer, we did a gameplay mechanic diagram explaining each mechanic and how they worked in the level. We managed to get the diagrams done in the first week to give out to the developers and gameplay designers, which I could then focus on level designing and implementing these mechanics when ready.

I also created another diagram explaining in detail a mechanic of a conveyor belt section of the level and how I needed it to work. I used reference images from movies for the kind of idea I had in mind to help explain what I was after.
